Our commitment
Tide prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation in every form, and we treat it as one of the most serious violations possible on our platform. We are committed to keeping CSAE and CSAM off Tide, to acting quickly when it is reported, and to cooperating fully with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement as required by law.
A community of verified adult students
Tide is built to reduce this risk at the source:
- Students only. Every account is verified with a real .edu school email or student ID before it can be used, no anonymous or unverified accounts.
- Intended for adults. Tide's target audience is college and university students 18 and over. Tide is not designed for or directed to children.
- Campus-scoped. People interact within their own verified campus community, a boundary enforced on our servers.
Strictly prohibited
The following are never allowed on Tide and result in immediate removal and a permanent ban:
- Any child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any sexual content involving a minor, real, illustrated, AI-generated, or otherwise.
- Grooming, or any attempt to sexualize, solicit, or exploit a minor.
- Sextortion, or trading, requesting, or promoting sexual content involving minors.
- Sexualized commentary about minors, or directing anyone to CSAE material off-platform.
Report it, in the app or to us
Anyone can report child safety concerns, and we make it easy:
- In the app: use Report on any post, profile, message, or conversation. Tide's report options include child sexual abuse or exploitation as a reason, and these reports are prioritized.
- Block anyone instantly to cut off all contact.
- By email, any time: [email protected] reaches our designated child-safety point of contact directly.
How we respond
When we learn of CSAE or CSAM on Tide, we:
- Remove the content and permanently ban the account, as quickly as possible.
- Preserve the relevant content and account information as evidence, consistent with applicable law.
- Report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate with law enforcement and regional or national authorities as required.
- Review associated accounts and take further action where warranted.
Reports of imminent danger to a child are escalated immediately.
Compliance
Tide complies with applicable child-safety laws in the regions where it is available, including reporting obligations to NCMEC and cooperation with regional and national authorities. We align our standards with Google Play's child safety standards policy for apps in the social and dating categories.
Designated point of contact
